North East Forum on Ageing

Healthwatch organisations across the Tees Valley are working together in partnership with the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (NENC ICB)

In order to help improve planning processes for when families can no longer support their family member to stay at home we would like to know;

  • the needs are of those with a learning disabilities (30+ years and above)
  • what factors would make the transition easier as those people get older
  • what has been their experience of health and social care services at that time and help to ensure sufficient and adequate services are in place for those with more complex needs.

It is important that services know what this looks like and we hope to gather views that will establish a baseline of what local people’s knowledge of current services are and their expectations of local services to meet carers’ needs and the needs of those they care for as they get older.

To achieve this, we will be engaging with professionals, carers and people with learning disabilities, including those of 50+ years to understand current and future needs and make recommendations to inform commissioning and/or service offer re-design.

Methods of our engagement will be:

Three digital surveys which can be accessed through the link below;

Professionals: Growing Older, Planning Ahead – Professionals Survey (smartsurvey.co.uk)
