The latest news – The Age Action Alliance

Welcome to the latest round up of news and views from Age Action Alliance’s members. Amongst the contributors are a number of new members, including the Open University with information on an upcoming healthy living project; and The Access Project, who are looking for older volunteers to be part of an inspiring intergenerational project. We also profile new member Shaw Lifetime Care who offer a unique way to pay for residential care.

There is quite an emphasis on the barriers preventing many older people from participating fully in society. The ever-expanding list of these include everything from closing railway ticket stations and public toilets through to making it problematic to access vital public services other than online, or pay for parking without a smartphone. The divisive political war on low traffic neighbourhoods also represents a threat to making our streets safer to use.

I would love to share more of your news and knowledge on the busy and hugely popular website – now a unique resource for later life issues – and in future newsletters. A reminder also that AAA member news is regularly featured in my daily e-news digests of later life news: you can see the latest edition here Today’s Later Life AGEnda (mailchi.mp)

A list of our current membership can be found at Who we are – The Age Action Alliance

We’d love to do more research work too, on later life employment and housing particularly – if anyone reading this would like to get involved or to help fund work that could inform policies and services, please get in touch with me at info@theageactionalliance.org. We would also (warmly!) welcome sponsors for our website and daily newsletters.
