The Happiness Fund

Value: There is a total of £10,000 for the year which will be divided into two grants of £5,000 each. (These are one-off and non-recurring grants).

Application deadline: 6th October 2023

Applicants who have qualified for the interview round will hear by 6 November 2023.

Interviews will be held on zoom on 30 November 2023.

The winner will be announced on 5 January 2024.

A small number of small grants are available each year to support grassroots, neighbourhood-based community projects in the UK which improve mental health and wellbeing, inclusion, and learning and skills development in local communities.

The Fund will support grassroots, not-for-profit projects across the UK with projects that aim to improve mental health and wellbeing, inclusion, and learning and skills development in local communities.

Funding is intended to build happy, strong, resilient communities by supporting grassroots, not-for-profit projects that enable sustainable outcomes in Mental health wellbeing and happiness, Inclusion and Learning and skills development

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be based in their local community.
  • Be not-for-profit.
  • Be non-political.
  • Be focused on longevity.
  • Have a bank annount in the name of the group.
  • Be willing to provide regular updates which Laughology can use on its website and social media to promote the project.
  • Not have received funding of more than £50,000, from other sources, in the last 12 months.

The following are not eligible for funding:

  • Large national charities.
  • One-off events such as Christmas meals, day trips etc.
  • Paying salaries, accommodation or rent (renovations will be considered).
  • Public Sector organisations.
  • Individuals.
  • Medical treatments or research.
  • Personal development courses.
  • Retroactive costs.
