Parkinson’s UK North East and Cumbria Research Interest Group

Dr Rachael Lawson and Dr Rosie Morris are working with Parkinson’s UK to develop a North East and Cumbria Parkinson’s Research Interest Group (NEC-RIG) and have designed a survey to get the opinions of people with an interest in Parkinson’s research about what this might look like and how it might work.

They have a fantastic variety of research across the North East and Cumbria involving people with Parkinson’s and their family, friends and carers, from basic science in a laboratory looking at cells and DNA, to treatments or interventions in clinic and in the home e.g. medication or exercise. They want to bring people across our regions together who have an interest in Parkinson’s research to provide opportunities to take part in all stages of research. This can include helping researchers in universities and/or the NHS to identify important questions or issues to people with Parkinson’s that they can try and answer, to design research studies that will help people who want to take part or identifying what the best ways are to tell people about the results.
