Millions of people in the North East may be missing out on cheaper Broadband tariffs

New research from Ofcom states that more than 4 million UK households may be missing out on deeply discounted savings on their broadband bills. only 5.1% of the 4.3m households receiving universal credit payments are signed up to ‘social tariffs’, some providers may call them ‘essential’ or ‘basic’ broadband tariffs. 

Households receiving benefits could be eligible for discounts of about £200 a year on average,
Social tariffs are cheaper broadband and phone packages for people claiming Universal Credit, Pension Credit, income support, employment and support allowance. Some (but not all) providers.may also include Personal Independent Payments and Attendance allowance.
