Households should beware emails from scammers impersonating TV Licensing, Action Fraud warns.

Tricksters falsely warn that your TV licence is about to expire or there was a problem with payments.

But the links in the email lead to websites designed to steal your personal information.

Action Fraud has received more than 6,000 reports of the scam in just two weeks.

A TV Licensing spokesman says: ‘We encourage anyone who has suspicions to call us or check our website for guidance on how to spot scams.’
