Help Defeat Dementia – Join Dementia Research

On the 6th September 2022 NEFA attended the “Dementia, Navigating the Maze” conference held at St. James Park, Newcastle (the conference featured on ‘Look North’ that same night). With more than 850,000 people in the UK being affected by Dementia the conference covered the disease itself and the support needed by people suffering from the disease and their carers. The conference was most informative and we are sure that all attendees, like ourselves, went away with a greater insight into the disease and how organisations and individuals can work together making inroads to defeat dementia and alleviate the suffering it causes.

Please download the “Dementia Risks & Responses” .pdf kindly given to us by Dr. Alison Killen Research Associate, Newcastle University & Health Psychologist) her presentation provides simple facts regarding dementia, what it is, risk factors and what you can do mitigate dementia.

Below is summary information on the Dementia Research service, you can sign up to it and help reach the goal of defeating this pernicious disease.

Now with the “Join Dementia Research” service people can play their part in beating dementia. The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) in partnership with Alzheimer Scotland, Alzheimer’s Research UK and Alzheimer’s Society have developed the service that allows people to register their interest in participating in dementia research and be matched to suitable studies.

Research offers hope. Only through research can we understand what causes dementia diseases, develop effective treatments and improve the care of those living with dementia.

But for research to make progress we need more people with and without dementia to take part in vital studies. Help beat dementia by signing up today.
