Note: Most grants are in the £250 to £1,000 range with larger amounts awarded to a small number of exceptional projects. Match funding is not a specified requirement.
Application deadline – No set time limit
One-off grants are available to local charities within the North East of England for a wide range of charitable activities including education, training, environment, conservation, arts, culture and general charitable purposes.
Objectives of Fund
The Trust supports a wide range of activities including education and training, environment and conservation, arts and culture as well as general charitable purposes. The Trust’s principal aim is to identify and meet the local needs of North East England, the area in which Dame Catherine was brought up and resided.
Who Can Apply
Charitable organisations based and working in the North East of England may apply.
Restrictions
The following are not eligible for funding:
- Core costs.
- On-going financing.
- Applications with a foreign element.
- Individuals.
- Sports Clubs/Associations.
Eligible Expenditure
One-off grants are available for charitable projects in the following areas:
- Education and training.
- Medical, health and sickness.
- Disability.
- Children and young people.
- Religious activities.
- Arts and culture.
- Animal Welfare.
- Other charities and voluntary bodies.
How To Apply
The application process is ongoing and interested applicants may apply at any time. The Trustees meet several times a year to consider applications.
There is no application form. The first step in the application process is to complete the short online form (https://catherinecookson.com/application-form/) found on the Catherine Cookson Charitable Trust’s website. The Trust will then contact applicants with details on how to proceed. (Once groups have filled in this form they will be able to access the guidelines and up to date restrictions)
