Operation Payback is back for Round 5 – Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner

Kim McGuinness set up Operation Payback in 2020 to return cash from crime back to the community.

To date, over a £1 million to good causes that are determined to improve lives across the region.

“There have been some fantastic results by Northumbria Police lately – lots of arrests and lots of money has been taken back and out of the wrong hands. There’s no better use for cash seized from crime than channelling it right back into our communities investing in real action and activities that kids want and benefit from and that in turn we keep them out of trouble.” – Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner ” — Kim McGuinness

What is the Operation Payback fund and what projects will we support?

The Operation Payback Fund allows for communities, social enterprises, community groups, charities and schools to bid for a micro grant of up to £1,000 or a larger grant up to £5,000.

There are specific priorities that your project/bid must focus on which are preventing crime/improving lives to:

1. Repair the harm caused by ASB and to keep people safe.
2. Prevent/reduce youth or adult ASB.
3. Provision of diversionary activities throughout the year including school holidays.

We will give priority to applications from smaller organisations and communities, who typically find it hard to access funding
